Small Grants Scheme

2006 - 2008

The ANZAC Day Working Group was established in 2003 to support projects that are able to demonstrate an ongoing community commitment to the commemoration of the spirit of ANZAC. In 2007/2008 a total of $1 million was made available to RSL Sub Branches, community and service organisations to help mark ANZAC in their communities.

The Small Grants Scheme was part of a wider push by the State Government to ensure that the observance of ANZAC Day is continued and enhanced in the lead up to the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings in 2015, and to promote a better understanding of the spirit of ANZAC to future generations. The grants help RSL sub-branches and community organisations mark ANZAC in their communities.

The fourth and final round of the ANZAC Day Small Grants Scheme Program has now been announced.

The program was designed to ensure that the observance of ANZAC Day is continued and enhanced in the lead up to the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings in 2015.

Four rounds of grants have been undertaken with successful applicants announced:

1. Anzac Day, 25 April 2007
2. Remembrance Day, 11 November 2007
3. Anzac Day, 25 April 2008
4. Remembrance Day, 11 November 2008

Since it was established in 2003/2004, the Small Grants Scheme had provided more than $1.5 million in assistance to RSL sub-branches around the State. The grants program is aimed at keeping the ANZAC tradition alive by enabling RSL sub-branches and local communities to hold commemorative services and to honour ex-service members.

The ANZAC Day Working Group has supported projects that are able to demonstrate an ongoing community commitment to the commemoration of the spirit of ANZAC. It also encouraged partnerships and supported organisations that have used the funds as leverage to gain other funding from other organisations.
