ANZAC Medallion

2005 marked the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. Many of those who contributed to Western Australia's part in this conflict have passed on or are aged 80 or beyond.

This provided the ideal opportunity to remember and recognise the enormous contribution made by that generation through the awarding of a specially commissioned commemorative memento from the Perth Mint. Upon application, the memento was issued to all those who made a contribution to the effort of the Second World War.

In announcing this initiative the Premier was keen to ensure that in addition to those who served on the armed forces, those men and women who looked after their returned husbands, brothers or fathers, or who entered the workforce for the first time be acknowledged as part of this program.

ANZAC Medallions were awarded to surviving men and women who fought, helped or dedicated their services to Australia and/or its Allied Forces during World War II.
